Man arrested after allegedly imprisoning woman and two children for 2 years
Moore was charged with three felony counts of abduction and felony assault and battery.
A Virginia man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly held a woman and two children captive in his home, a law enforcement official said.
As Fredericksburg's Free Lance-Star first reported, officers responded about 5 p.m. to a home in the 3600 block of Mine Road in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for a welfare check, according to Charles Carey, a spokesman for the Spotsylvania County Sheriff.
A man at the home, 43-year-old Kariem Ali Muhammad Moore, was reluctant to let them in the house, according to Carey; while deputies were talking to Moore, a 32-year-old woman, an 11-year-old child and an 8-year-old child fled the house and said they had not been allowed outside for two years.
The woman, Moore's girlfriend, was hospitalized in serious condition, and the children, who referred to Moore as their father, are staying with relatives, Carey said.
Moore was charged with three felony counts of abduction and felony assault and battery, Carey said, and was held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
