A Malaysian has been sentenced to seven years' jail and 12 strokes of the cane for involvement in a 2014 gang robbery, Channel NewsAsia reported on Thursday.
Ravi Sandhira Sagaran, 28, is the first member of a group to admit his involvement in the gang robbery.
The report said his seven co-accused included six other Malaysians and one Singapore permanent resident between the ages of 29 and 43.
The gang of eight robbers are said to have meticulously planned their crime over two months.
They decided to rob the 35-year-old manager of a money-changing business who often had large amounts of cash in his possession, it said.
The report said that after four aborted attempts in October 2014, the robbers made off with S$624,036.41 (about RM1.903 million) in cash.
