Seven security forces personnel and two civilians were injured in two separate bombing incidents in two provinces in southern Thailand on Tuesday.
The first incident, which occurred in Kampung Air Keroh, Chanet in Narathiwat at 3.30pm (local time), left six personnel and two civilians injured.
"The incident occurred when the security volunteers from the Chanet district office were escorting a group of teachers," said Chanet Police Investigation Department chief Lt Apichart Suni.
He said the explosion was caused by a homemade bomb weighing 20kg hidden in a gas cylinder and activated via radio frequency.
Apichart said the victims only suffered minor injuries and were sent to the district hospital for treatment.
In the second incident in Saiburi, Pattani at 5.30pm, a ranger suffered chest injuries when a bomb weighing 10kg exploded while he was on patrol, said Pattani acting police chief Col Piyawat Chalermsri. -- Bernama
