[OPINION] Common Prosperity at the Center: China and Malaysia on path to a community of shared future

Xi’s trip also highlighted the importance of people-to-people exchange, connectivity, and multilateral coordination—particularly as Malaysia chairs ASEAN in 2025. Malaysia and China pledged to jointly uphold multilateralism, oppose protectionism and safeguard regional peace and stability. The commitment to resolve differences through dialogue and to reject bloc confrontations affirms the centrality of ASEAN norms and Chinese diplomatic principles.
