Pakistan crash: Family awaits return of Hery Listywati, killed in crash, for burial

The body of Hery Listyawati, the wife of Indonesian ambassador to Pakistan, who was killed in a helicopter crash on Friday, would be brought back to Yogyakarta for burial soon, Indonesia's Antara news agency reported her brother as saying.

"We hope our sister's body can soon be brought home. We have been notified that she was one of the victims of a helicopter crash in Pakistan," Sigit Heru Setiabudi told journalists here Saturday.

He said that the latest information indicated that his sister's remains had been taken to Islamabad.

Setiabudi said the family of Hery Listyawati, 51, learned of her death after reading online media reports, but were subsequently notified by the Indonesian embassy in Pakistan on Friday afternoon.

Before her death, his sister had asked him to assure her son's future studies, he added.

Meanwhile, Pitra Amrullah, one of Hery Listyawati's children, said he received the news from family members.

Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Burhan Muhammad, who was also one of the passengers aboard the ill-fated helicopter, survived the accident, but suffered injuries.

Based on information received by Antara, the group, invited by the Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry, left for northern Pakistan in a helicopter.

The group included 32 ambassadors and their spouses, along with 25 others who were flown in four helicopters.

The crash in the mountainous area of Gilgit-Baltistan in northern Pakistan killed seven people, including the wife of the Indonesian ambassador, the wife of the Malaysian ambassador to Pakistan, the Filipino ambassador and the Norwegian ambassador.
