Plane door washed up near Reunion Island

LESS than a week after the discovery of a flaperon on an Indian Ocean island, a plane door was discovered washed up near Reunion Island, near Madagascar.

The object was discovered at a different location from where the flaperon was retrieved, Sky News reported, Sunday.

Speculations were rife that the item could possibly originated from the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH370 plane which disappeared without trace on March 8, last year. The plane, en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang was carrying 239 people on board.

The flaperone has arrived for analysis in France early Saturday.

Experts will begin their analysis on the debris on Wednesday, along with an examination of parts of a suitcase discovered nearby.

If confirmed, the discovery would mark the first breakthrough of a mystery that has baffled aviation experts for 16 months.

To date, officials have confirmed the debris originated from a Boeing-777. Since 2008, five incidents involving Boeing-777 were reported including two MAS airliners -- MH370 and MH17, the latter which was shot down over Ukraine on July 17, last year.
