DOHA: From World Cup accommodation to quake relief - Qatar has pledged to donate up to 10,000 mobile homes to quake-hit areas in Turkey and Syria.
The caravans, originally used for soccer fans during the 2022 World Cup, will be used to house those left homeless by the quake.
A first shipment of 350 caravans was prepared and sent on Sunday (February 12) to Turkey.
A week after a major earthquake truck Turkey and Syria, the toll of dead rose to nearly 34,000 and looked set to keep increasing as hopes for finding any more survivors faded.
The quake, the sixth most deadly natural disaster this century, has left hundreds of thousands homeless in middle of winter.
