SIA plane's nose gear collapses at Changi Airport
The nose gear or the third wheel of a Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane retracted at Changi Airport, on Sunday morning (October 11).
A Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane's nose gear retracted at Changi Airport, today, leaving it at an awkward position.
A spokesman for SIA said the Airbus A330-300, which had been undergoing a routine landing gear system check, was at the gate during the retraction.
The incident happened at 8am, The Straits Times reported.
The spokesman said maintenance work was being carried out to rectify a defect, and the gear retracted during the a system check.
"There were no passengers or crew on board at the time. One engineer who was on the aircraft was not injured," the spokesman told the daily.
He said the SIA will cooperate with the authorities in the investigation into the incident.
The plane had arrived from Pudong International Airport, Shanghai after midnight on the same day.
It was earlier scheduled to depart to Hong Kong at 7:35 am but another plane was later used.
