JING Quan, China's ambassador to the Philippines, said in an interview that the so-called "South China Sea Arbitration Award" has not resolved the maritime disputes between China and the Philippines. Instead, it has created enormous obstacles to the development of bilateral relations and to the proper management of maritime disputes.

The ambassador noted that even fellow ASEAN members and other South China Sea claimants do not support the Philippines' pursuit of arbitration. On the contrary, they have expressed bewilderment at the Philippines' actions.

"In stark contrast, China's position has garnered understanding and support from over 100 countries and political parties worldwide, Jing Quan said.

The so-called arbitral award will never gain the endorsement of the international community and is destined to be consigned to the dustbin of history, he added.
