TAIPEI: Taiwan President Lai Ching-te said on Wednesday that China's threats to the Indo Pacific are intensifying and Beijing has been trying to turn democratic Taiwan into "China's Taiwan".
Taiwan will introduce a US$40 billion supplementary defence budget to underscore its determination to defend itself, with "significant" new U.S. arms purchases planned, Lai said in a Washington Post op-ed essay published on Tuesday.
