On August 30, 2025, the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF), in collaboration with the Better World Fund (BWF), will convene global leaders, artists, and filmmakers for The Ties That Bind: A Journey Towards Understanding and Human Fraternity in Venice.
Taking place alongside the prestigious Venice International Film Festival, the gathering will spotlight how cinema and culture can bridge divides, nurture empathy, and inspire collective action for a more compassionate world.
The initiative underscores the values of the Abu Dhabi Document on Human Fraternity, a historic declaration signed in 2019 by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, which calls for peace, coexistence, and mutual respect among all people.
A Platform for Dialogue
The program in Venice will bring together diplomats, cultural icons, filmmakers, artists, and advocates for conversations on the transformative role of film and art in promoting coexistence and understanding.
It aims to:
• Present the vision and mission of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity.
• Strengthen international partnerships for dialogue and collaboration for humanity.
• Explore cinema as a universal language that fosters empathy and solidarity.
• Highlight culture and heritage as a shared foundation for global unity.
Looking Ahead
The Ties That Bind is part of a growing global movement to harness the influence of culture for humanity. By anchoring this initiative in Venice, a city long celebrated as a crossroads of civilizations, the organizers hope to emphasize both the urgency and the promise of building fraternity through creativity.
