ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday (November 30) that he has made his choice for the next chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve.
"I know who I'm going to pick," the president told reporters on Air Force One, but laughed when they asked him to name his choice. "I'm not telling you. We'll be announcing it," he said, grinning.
Earlier in the day, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said that he would be happy to serve as the next chairman if chosen by President Trump.
Hassett's comments, which were made on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program, came after Bloomberg News reported last week that he had emerged as the frontrunner to succeed Jerome Powell, whose term is set to end next year.
