Turkey's President re-elected ruling party head

ANKARA: Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was re-elected Wednesday as chair of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) at its general congress, reported Xinhua.

"We are determined to fulfill our promises to our nation, especially a new and civil constitution," Erdogan made the remarks when addressing the delegates of the party after the vote.

According to party officials, Erdogan got 1,428 valid votes out of 1,431 ballots, and there were three spoiled ballots.

Erdogan has made a major change in the party administration during the congress and included former Prime Minister Binali Yildirim into the party's decision-making and administration board.

A cabinet reshuffle is also expected to be made by Erdogan soon. The AKP's Deputy Chair Mahir Unal on Tuesday told the press that the president plans to make such an arrangement in the upcoming days.

In response to a query on the anticipation of the reshuffle, Unal said there will be a movement throughout the system and Erdogan will make new arrangements for 2023.
