Astro aims to set a new world record in the longest underwater clean up and is inviting qualified divers to participate in this attempt at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from 6th – 13th April 2013.
In 2011, Astro Kasih’s Beautiful Malaysia CSR programme saw 777 individual corals being transplanted at the Ribbon Reef, Tun Sakaran Marine Park in Sabah, breaking the Malaysia Book of Records. Following the success, Astro Kasih aims to create greater marine conservation awareness in 2013 by setting a new Guinness World Records™ title for the Longest Underwater Clean Up.
This 168 consecutive hour, 7-day underwater clean-up is set to commence from April 6th – 13th, 2013 at 14 dive sites surrounding Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Astro Kasih invites volunteers who are certified divers to be part of this environmental project. To learn more on how to register and participate, please log on to www.astrokasih.org/beautifulmalaysia. Volunteers who are selected will receive full-board stay, which includes accommodation and meals.
Marine debris, be it toxic wastes, rubbish or any other harmful materials travel great distances to our beaches and even the most remote places of the world’s ocean. It is responsible for the damage of sea corals, death of thousands of marine animals and seabirds every year.
Conserving the environment is indeed a collective effort and responsibility that begins with each and every one of us, and not solely with a particular registered organization or national conservative group. So, join us this year as we continue to try and make a difference in creating greater ecotourism awareness on marine conservation, with an attempt to break the Guinness World Records™ title for the Longest underwater clean-up with Astro Kasih.
