The Fall/Winter 2016 ready-to-wear shows have not yet finished but it's official: big hair is hot right now. From Altuzarra's curls on the New York runway to Ashish's rainbow afro wigs in London via the voluminous waves, spirals and ringlets showcased in Milan by Gucci and Fendi, frizz is undeniably fashionable at the moment.
In Paris, where the shows have just begun, Maison Margiela has already embraced the curl and Manish Arora sent its models out with their heads piled high with crimped, wavy, bouffant locks. Volume is key to recreating this look.
For a wild, unstructured wave, beauty vlogger Jennaly suggests the simple yet effective method of braiding hair when wet and keeping it in place for as long as possible.
By sectioning off wet hair to create multiple small braids tied with elastics and winding them up on to the top of the head before going to sleep, you can wake up to textured waves with a youthful, undone edge.
Alternatively, follow model Britney Watkins (aka Bwatuwant)'s advice and use a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment to lift your roots. Watkins deep conditions her hair before applying curl boosting products and scrunching the hair while wet to create the desired shape.
She lets it air dry for around 30 minutes before using the diffuser on a high heat setting to boost volume for a bold look. Fine hair can be less resistant to product so take a leaf out of Victoria Sun's book and choose one key curl spray or oil before drying the hair upside down using a hairdryer and no nozzle attachment for all over coverage.
Style vlogger Sazan Hendrix advocates brushing through at the end with a wide tooth comb to create some added volume and points out that you can always correct any straight strands with a curling wand to keep the look cohesive.
