Cacharel to sit out Paris Fashion Week

Parisian brand Cacharel has announced that it will skip the upcoming Paris fashion week as part of an ongoing restructuring process.

Founded in 1962, Cacharel has been a longstanding fixture on the Paris fashion scene, but the brand announced on Wednesday that it will not take part in this spring's Paris Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2013 runway shows.

The brand's creative directors, the French-educated Chinese pair Ling Liu and Dawei Sun, will instead show the Pre-Fall 2013 collection to select buyers and press at the brand's showroom.

Richard Alibert, formerly of Céline, was announced as the brand's new CEO in November last year and is overseeing an overhaul of the brand that will include the introduction of lower price points. Last year, the brand's founder, Jean Bousquet, announced that the new look items would retail at "between €150 and €180 for a shirt, €230 to €350 for a dress and no more than €500 for a coat."

Cacharel was previously working with Italian manufacturer Aeffe SpA for its womenswear but will now bring production back to France. Aeffe, which also produces clothes for Moschino and Jean Paul Gaultier, signed what was reportedly a ten-year deal with Cacharel in 2009, but the alliance was not continued.
