Can we have it all?

My biggest learning so far is that you just have to be at peace with the decisions you make.
We all have expectations.
What we want out of life; how we want to be treated; who we want to become.
We want to be a good friend, supportive colleague, productive team player, an inspiring boss, committed spouse, and loving parent.
Often times, however, as we do our very best to find a balance between various life goals, we get to one at the expense of another.
Unlike in a programmable environment, where we can predetermine the outcome, we cannot predict how external factors play a part in the course of our lives.
As we progress in life, we began to shoulder more responsibilities while making hard choices between opportunities that present themselves left, right and center.
Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.
As much as we want to, we cannot pursue all our goals and desires simultaneously.
It is much easier to connect the dots in hindsight — to see the big picture and know what choices would have worked better in our favour.
Juggling between what we want and what is expected of us, we sometimes reassess our priorities based on what we value most in relation to another.
Not knowing which path to take or which option to go for is one of my many fears.
My biggest learning so far is that you just have to be at peace with the decisions you make.
The 13th-century Persian poet, Rumi said “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
Regardless of where our choices take us, may we all find the courage and have the clarity of thought to make the better decision, and work our way towards building a life that we can be proud of.
