Carl's Jr. opens first restaurant in Japan as part of Asian expansion

The opening of Japan's first Carl's Jr. burger joint in Tokyo attracted snaking lines and overnight visitors over the weekend, with customers willing to wait hours for their first bite and the chance to win a year's worth of free burgers.
Parent company CKE Restaurant Holdings is hoping to capitalize on the largest burger market in Asia and plans to open 150 Carl's Jr. restaurants in Japan over the next decade, despite meager results from the world's biggest burger giant.
McDonald's closed 153 restaurants and posted their worst annual financial results recently, losing $300 million in 2015.
The company is expected to rebound this year with a full-year profit.
Carl's Jr. is known for their Angus beef Thickburgers, hand-breaded chicken tenders and ice cream shakes.
