ASTRO will be providing coverage on Thaipusam celebration in Malaysia on its multi platforms through television, Radio, Astro GO, NJOI Now and Astro Ulagam, starting January 30.
This year’s theme Thiruarutpa, tells the story of Lord Murugan worship such as Thirumurugatrupadai and Pampan Swamigal.
For Astro TV, Astro GO and NJOI Now, LIVE coverage of Thaipusam celebration from three temples in Ipoh, Penang and Sungai Petani on January 30, 2018 until January 31, 2018 will be broadcast on Astro Vinmeen HD (CH 231), Astro Vaanavil (CH 201) Astro GO and NJOI Now.
Professor Dr G Gnanasambandam will be in attendance as the scholarly commentator at the LIVE coverage on TV while Mahendran Vellupillay, Kumaresh and Vizhuthugal’s host Revathy will be providing updates from the locations and Meenakumari will be hosting from the studio.

Meanwhile, Astro Ulagam will be streaming 24-hour LIVE Thaipusam celebrations from 5 locations: Thanner Malai in Penang; Sri Subramaniya Swami Devasthanam Temple in Sungai Petani; Kallumalai in Ipoh; Sri Subramaniya Swami Aalayam in Kuala Selangor; and, Thandayuthabani Temple in Johor Bahru.
The live streaming will begin on January 30, 2018 at 5pm, and ends January 31, 2018, at 5pm (Malaysian time).
During the 24-hour live streaming, there will be additional cross-screening recordings of Thaipusam celebrations from Palani, Vadapalani and Tiruchirappalli in India.

The Astro Thaipusam 2018 live streaming will feature singer, T.L. Maharajan to add to the festive atmosphere.

Raaga will be doing Outside Broadcast on January 30 (7pm-12midnight) and January 31 (10am -8pm) from the Batu Caves Temple.
There would be a cultural show ‘Raagavin Panpaadu Vizha’ to be held on January 30 from 8pm until 12am, where fans can enjoy traditional performances such as Mayilattam, Uyillattam, Urumi and Karagattam.
Raaga announcers Aanantha, Uthaya, Suresh, Raam, Revathy, Ahila, Gheetha, Shalu, Kavimaaran, Jay and Yashini will be hosting and performing at the show.
Celebrities from India Venkat Prabhu, Premgi, Vaibhav, Subbu, Sampath, Sana, Anjena and Director Saravana Rajan will be joining in the performances too.
Audiences also stand a chance to win two pair of tickets to Kerala by submitting a creative slogan at Batu Caves during Raaga’s on-ground event. The contest will begin from January 30 (7pm-12midnight) - January 31 (6am-8pm).
