Coca-Cola in Sweden has created a karaoke vending machine that distributes free bottles of Coke Zero in exchange for a Christmas carol.
Developed by ad agency JMW Stockholm, the ‘Sing For Me’ machine is set up at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and invites students to pick up the mic and belt out a Christmas song in the holiday spirit.
The prospect of scoring a free drink is reason enough to sing in front of an audience, as a YouTube video shows students taking up the challenge, tone deaf or not.
It’s the latest vending machine innovation to come from Coca-Cola. In Singapore, the ‘Hug Machine’ dispensed free cans in exchange for a hug, while in Belgium commuters were challenged to race to a vending machine at the other end of a train station for their chance to score free tickets to the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall.
Meanwhile, Argentinean beer maker Cerveza Salta had the same idea when it rolled out the Rugbeer, which challenged drinkers to tackle the dispenser like a rugby player to get their beverage. Rugby is considered the country’s second unofficial sport after soccer.
