Soon there could be no escape form the social network's cat memes or video ads.
Facebook is currently trialing a feature that would enable a playing video to stay within a computer's browser while a user scrolls up and down through their Facebook posts and timeline.
The feature needs to be unlocked. Once a video is playing, press the button in the bottom right-hand corner and the video will float, initially dropping to the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. However, it can be dragged and positioned anywhere within the browser window, where it will continue playing until you leave the page.
The idea is so that users can watch longer video clips while continuing to be active on the rest of the network, but it could also prove to be a very popular feature with Facebook's growing advertiser base. Especially if the videos started floating automatically.
