Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Terengganu plans to build a hotel on an oil rig as a new tourist attraction for the Dungun district in conjunction with Visit Terengganu Year 2017.
UiTM Terengganu Rector Assoc Prof Dr Abdol Samad Nawi it would not only serve as a hotel four tourists but also as a learning facility to train students in Hotel Management and Tourism.
"With the uncertain economic situation now, tourism is seen as having the best prospects," he told reporters after closing UiTM Terengganu Dungun Campus' Hospitality Festival 2016 here, Sunday.
He said that he would be discussing with Petronas to get an oil rig that is no longer in use to build the hotel, which would be located just about 10 nautical miles from the Dungun coast.
