Five popular food places in the city were chosen as tour packages for tourists and the public to try out various local delicacies in conjunction with 'KL Food Trails', which is being held for the very first time.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ahmad Phesal Talib said the Kuala Lumpur City Hall had joined hands with the tourism unit Visit KL and Time Out KL magazine to prepare guides and daily packages for five places, which are Brickfields, Old Kuala Lumpur (Chinatown of KL), Jalan Alor, Pudu and Kampung Baru, which were chosen for their popularity amongst local food lovers.

"All five places have been looked after well to preserve the culture and food available there," he said when launching KL Food Trails here Friday.

Ahmad Phesal said there were around 5,000 restaurant outlets in the capital and he hoped that more restaurant and food shop owners would get involved to make KL Food Trails a success.

"We have also discussed with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to have special rules to be followed by every restaurant owner to ensure cleanliness of the premises, food and their employees.
