Google launches Play store movies in Mexico, India
The online Google Play store has rolled out access to movies to rent or buy for users in India and Mexico. Through Google's store (play.google.com), known as Google Play, the company sells downloadable content for Android devices such as apps, books, music and movies. In the latest in a series of updates to Google Play, the service has announced that it will now be making movies available to rent or buy to users of Android devices in Mexico and India. Recently Google Play also added a book catalogue, with both local and international bestsellers, to users in Mexico. Google announced this week that movies on Google Play will soon have information cards that will use facial recognition technology to help users identify individual actors, so now when watching a movie with friends any dispute over what else a particular actor has been in can be solved by hitting pause and circling the face of the actor on the screen thereby bringing up relevant information. Initially this function will only be available to US users on devices running Android 4.0 and higher, but is expected to roll out to more countries soon.
