Hard Rock introduces Rock 'n' roll-themed spa treatment

Music-themed hotel chain Hard Rock has launched what it's calling a spa experience that’s "more Zeppelin than Zen" by using bass vibrations to replicate the concert-going experience. Billed as a world first, Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos’ Rhythm and Motion spa menu takes the concept of music therapy a step further, tapping into the multi-sensory, physical experience of live concerts -- vibrations, pulses, pressures and patterns. While stretched out on a massage table, for instance, a built-in system will send bass vibrations along the body, while treble beats are sent from above. Traditional Swedish massages are also given a musical makeover, as therapists synchronize movements to a specially curated playlist that includes classic oldies and contemporary chart toppers. Massages are also infused with organic essential oils. Facials also combine sound vibration techniques with organic products to rejuvenate and hydrate the skin. Though Hard Rock claims to have developed the world’s first rock ‘n' roll-themed spa menu, it’s not the first to tune into the concept of sonic treatment. In California’s Mojave desert, guests of The Integratron can partake in a sonic bath or healing session, in which crystal bowls play live music that are keyed to the body’s ‘chakra’ or energy center. The treatments take place in a domed, wood-paneled sound chamber. The experience is meant to encourage relaxation, rejuvenation and meditation.
