THERE is a saying that everything happens for a reason.
The saying rings true for Farah Marcella, a homeless girl who proved her excellence by obtaining 6As in her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).
As a teenager, Farah dug deep, endured many financial obstacles and emotional hardship. With the doggedness in pursuing her goals, it has yielded a favourable outcome for her.
Thus, the saying 'where there is a will, there is a way', comes true.
According to a Facebook status uploaded by her teacher Suraya Abdul Rahim, the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Kota Puteri student in Pasir Gudang, Johor is described as having great potential although she and her siblings were abandoned by their father.
It was a winding road to success for Farah.
Due to family issues, she used to skip school. At Form Four, she was expelled.
She returned to school to pursue her Form Five education, yet her personal problems consistently become a setback for her.
Knowing Farah's potential, Suraya took the teenager under her wings, gave her a roof above her head and prepped her for the big examinations.
Only two months of preparation, Farah defied all odds when excelled with 6As, thanks to her perseverance, hard work and continuous support from her teachers.
A quick check on social media revealed that Farah is now staying at a snooker centre, along with her mother and other siblings.
Astro AWANI is in the midst of contacting Suraya via Facebook to get in touch with Farah.
A fund has been established by the benevolent Suraya and her brother Zaikhan to assist Farah and her family.
