Indonesia targets more Malaysian tourists this year

Indonesian Embassy's Minister Counselor (Economic), Krishna K.U Hannan said that they were among measures being carried out, in addition to promoting that country''s cultural attractions at the international level.

"On the government side, we are targeting 20 million foreign tourists to visit Indonesia by 2019.

"Besides, we also promoting attractive destinations for halal tourism in Indonesia," he told reporters after launching the Indonesia Street Bukit Bintang Fiesta 2017 at the Pavilion here today.

Also present was the Southeast Asia promotions director Rizki Handayani Mustafa.

Themed "Discover Exotic Indonesia'', the fiesta was being held from May 18 to 21 and featured cultural performances such as dance, music, batik workshops and exhibitions on Indonesian national heritage items.

Krishna said that last year there were 200,000 of Malaysian tourists visited Indonesia and the number expected to increase this year.

"We want more Malaysians to visit Indonesia and enjoy the various great deals we have to offer because we are currently promoting several attractions and privileges for tourists in our country," he said.
