Instagram rolls out Facebook-like timeline, netizens want a revert
Some Instagram users are now getting a revamped feed based on a new algorithm, as compared to the current timeline based on chronological order.
Just weeks after rolling out a new logo and interface, some Instagram users are now getting a revamped feed based on a new algorithm, as compared to the current timeline based on chronological order.
This new algorithm was first announced by Instagram in March but in a latest blog, it said users should be able to experience the new timeline in the coming months.
“On average, people miss 70 percent of their feeds. It’s become harder to keep up with all the photos and videos people share as Instagram has grown.

“Over the past few months, we brought this new way of ordering posts to a portion of the community, and we found that people are liking photos more, commenting more and generally engaging with the community in a more active way,” it said.
Despite the changes, Instagram assured that “no matter how many accounts you follow, you should see your best friend’s latest posts.”
According to a report by Mashable, Instagram’s timeline looks similar like that of Facebook – its parent company.
Photos are posted first based on popularity and other social measures.
Netizens are not amused by the sudden change.
“Hate the new timeline feed. Give us the option to switch back to chronological order,” said @hinakin on Twitter.
Others shared similar sentiments.

Hey @instagram does this new timeline mean that if I don't "like" your irrelevant sponsored posts I'll stop seeing them?

Woke to find @instagram has the new timeline, not happy. Chronological order is what makes Instagram fun #InstagramAlgorithm #changeitback
