IT looks like the ‘marriage’ between Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) and its main sponsor, Vida Beauty could be shortlived.
That was the impression painted by pioneer, Datuk Seri Dr Hasmiza Othman, in a statement to news portal, Mstar Online today.
Although the lifespan of the sponsorship 2016 and 2017, the cosmetic tycoon who is also fondly known as Datuk Vida said she is no longer interested, thanks to the declining performance by the football team.
Vida was referring to the team’s declining performance and the failure to rake in any returns from the RM16 million sponsorship.
The sponsorship has, in all sense of the word -- solidified her status as a businesswoman -- but it has failed to give any positive impact to her enterprise, Vida was quoted saying.
“Yes, my reputation has soared, but I don’t see any increase in products sales,” she said.
Vida has gained her reputation as a big-earner, who has secured a series of television sponsorship in the past and has repeatedly expressed her disappointment towards the team.
She also claimed that the fans of the football team have also refused to support the team by buying original merchandise items.
“I have made it affordable for fans to buy the jerseys but fans have continuously opted to buy counterfeits.
“This applies to any husband and wife couples -- even after they have vowed to the ‘till-death-do-us’ part pledge – they would seek for a divorce if they suffer from mental illness. Why would you want to suffer?,” she added.
Vida is expected to meet KAFA President, Tan Sri Annuar Musa soon to discuss the matter.
