Evergreen singer Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim plans to open a new branch of her restaurant, Khadijah's Kitchen, in London, England, in April next year.
Khadijah, or fondly known as Khaty, said the plan was made following the positive response from customers to the Malay dishes served at her chain of restaurants.
"We have identified the location for the restaurant in London and we are now in the midst of discussion. If everything goes well, it will open in April next year," she told Bernama after attending the Golden Jubilee celebration dinner of SMK Datuk Onn, here, last night.
At the event, Khadijah had 'auctioned off' her popular songs to raise money for the school.
She said the new restaurant would maintain the concept of Malaysian authentic dishes including lempeng, pisang goreng or banana fritters, roti jala, laksa Johor, nasi lemak and rendang Tok.
Khadijah's Kitchen, currently operating in Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam, Port Dickson and Malacca, would also be opening more branches, in Alor Setar and Johor Bharu, early next year, said Khadijah.
She said the restaurant, which also produced six types of Malay cooking pastes including for rendang Tok, pajeri nenas and fish head curry, would soon produce six more pastes including for laksa Johor, curry laksa and satay.
"The products are available in supermarkets and airports nationwide and they are also exported to Singapore and Hong Kong due to the high demand," she said.
On another development, Khadijah said she had made a new album, but declined to disclose the details.
"My new album has been completed but now is not the right time to release it because of several factors," she said.
