New study finds e-cigarettes contain enough nicotine to help smokers kick the habit

The researchers found that the vapor product they used delivered enough nicotine to help those finding it difficult to quit.
A new study published in the Journal of Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology found that e-cigarettes help suppress smoking desire and withdrawal comparable to Nicorette products.
The study conducted by Fontem Ventures scientists used a vaping product with a 2 % nicotine concentration, which is the maximum limit prescribed by the E.U. Tobacco Products Directive. The researchers found that the vapor product they used delivered enough nicotine to help those finding it difficult to quit the behavioral and sensorial aspects of smoking.
The study found that many smokers have difficulty quitting because other, current nicotine replacement therapies do not deliver nicotine in the same way as cigarettes. Nor do they provide the sensory cues and rituals associated with smoking conventional cigarettes.
