A new range of customisable toys in the Transformer franchise has been unveiled by Hasbro at the Toy Fair in New York, which runs from February 10-13.

The Toy Fair in New York is one of the biggest events of its kind and showcases some of the year's hottest and soon-to-be most desirable toys.

This year Hasbro has been causing a buzz with the release of its new range of Transformers toys, based on the entertainment, and later movie franchise, of the same name.

Hasbro's new Transformers range includes the customizable Construct-Bots which feature a "robot" frame and 50-55 pieces that can be positioned in different manners around the frame allowing the Transformer to be fully customized by the child. Each of the 50-55 pieces is also compatible with all ten characters in the Construct-Bots range. This means that, unlike previous versions of the Transformers range, which simply changed from one form to another, robot to truck for example, this new line of toys allows children to create their own designs limited by only their own imagination.

Toys in the Construct-Bots range will retail for $14.99 (RM46.45) each and will be in stores from August 2013.

Hasbro also revealed the Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Voyager Class range, a new assortment of toys based on the third season of Hasbro Studios animated series "Transformers Prime" and featuring six characters including "Optimus Prime" re-designed in his "beast hunter" mode as the Transformers battle not only the Decepticons but also the dragon- like Predacons led by the Predaking.

Items from Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Voyager Class range retail for $19.99 (RM61.94) and will be available in February 2013.

Also in the area of TV toy tie-ins global brand Tomy announced the launch of it 2013 range of Pokemon characters at this year's New York Toy Fair. The range of Pokemon toys will launch in the fall of this year and include new Pokemon Attack ‘n' Battle Figures and a new Pokemon Pokedex Trainer Kit.
