One per one hundred of breast cancer patients are men, said Chief Division and Senior Consultant Surgeon, Endocrine and Breast Surgery of Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) Datuk Dr Imi Sairi Ab Hadi.
He said the mortality rate for men who were diagnosed with breast cancer was higher than women since the cancer was more aggressive on men.
"The male breast cancer may be due to the genetic factor," he told reporters after the Pink Walk Kaseh programme organised by the Kota Bharu People's Association (POKB) at the Maktab Sultan Ismail (SIC) field, here on Saturday,
The 4.5-kilometre walking programme which was participated by 7,000 participants was officiated by Tengku Puan Temenggong Kelantan, Tunku Puan Sri Noor Hayati Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Also present at the event were POKB president Datuk Sheikh Ahmad Dusuki Mohamad and POKB's cancer ambassador Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim.
Dr Imi Sairi added, a total of 250 to 300 cancer patients were diagnosed every year in Kelantan, where one per cent of them were men.
