The Penang State Museum Board today rolled out their custom made washable fabric face masks, featuring artworks and artifacts designs found in the museum and art gallery.
In a statement today, Penang exco for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Yeoh Soon Hin said that the washable face masks not only serve as an effort to reduce waste in the form of disposable face masks, but also conduct the very first people-to-people art exhibition by wearing the artworks and artifacts itself.
“The designs were inspired from our permanent collection of paintings and artifacts, which will create a sense of awareness and also a sense of belonging to our national heritage in challenging times, to remind who we truly are and where we come from,” he said.
He also said that the launch of the unique washable face masks is also the state government’s effort to promote the creative economy, which he believed could be the next economic powerhouse for Penang.
“By purchasing a fabric mask made exclusively by the Penang State Museum, you are doing a part by promoting and showcasing our important works to the members of the public,” he added.
The limited edition washable face masks consist of 15 designs, which are available for purchase each at RM20 (excluding postage), either directly at Dewan Sri Penang or contact via Whatspp (017-7601349) or the Penang State Museum & Art Gallery Facebook page.
