Room for improvement for Malaysia's young designers

The young and aspiring designers in the country have been advised to get a good understanding of the fashion industry, if they want to make it to the top.
The Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear 2015 (KLFW RTW 2015) which kicked off recently with shows by Young Designers Malaysia or YODA (Young Designers Arena) garnered mixed reactions by fashion connoisseurs and players of the industry.
Featuring 16 young designers, who were all handpicked by the association and designing for ZALORA, their four-piece collection took centre stage and were first to open the runway at Pavilion KL.
YODA founder, Baizura Terzi said there was room for improvement for the young designers of the association.
To a familiar face of the local fashion industry, Zaihani Md Zain felt a tad letdown about the presentation.
Aside from highlighting the business of fashion, the annual KLFW RTW 2015 offered a platform for local designers and aspiring talents to chart their names in the fashion industry.
Besides YODA, emerging designer from Indonesia, Andy Salleh also took the stage to showcase his craftsmanship of 'libur' (summer) jackets which he dubbed "Summer Calling".
