Savoury prawn rendang recipes for Hari Raya
In conjunction with this coming Hari Raya, Astro AWANI's presenter Rizal Zulkapli shares a recipe from his mum's kitchen.
The Malay community is always known with its famous traditional dish called rendang, which is commonly served during important celebrations such as weddings or religious festivals.
But to certain people, beef or chicken rendang are too mainstream and for a change, they will sort for seafood rendang using alternative ingredients such as cockerels, mud clams, fish or crabs.
In conjunction with this coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Astro AWANI’s presenter Rizal Zulkapli shares a recipe from his mum's kitchen – a special prawn rendang dish.
A simple and easy to prepare, we can now enjoy a delicious meal while spending quality time with our beloved family, relatives and friends.
So, where should one started? Let’s have a look at the video and follow the process, but prior to that, here are the special ingredients:
SPECIAL PRAWN RENDANG (ideal for 4-5 people) Main ingredient: 500 gram of prawn (cleaned) Ingredients to blend: 6 red onions (medium size) 4 lemongrass stalks 20 green cili api 1 tbs turmeric powder 1 inch galangal 400ml coconut milk 1 pc tamarind slice 4 tbs kerisik (toasted and pounded coconut) Salt Sugar 4 kaffir lime leaves (thinly sliced) 2 turmeric leaves kunyit (thinly sliced) Cooking oil
