Being single seems to be an increasingly popular trend among Malaysians, with more and more people taking their time before tying the knot.

But does this happen due to choice? Or are the contributing factors truly beyond people's control?

In the Fifth Malaysian Population and Family Survey that was released recently, statistics showed that 35.7 percent of women in the country are marrying late because they could not find a suitable partner, while 56 percent of men cite financial difficulties.
