SNAPCHAT is making artificial intelligence tools a key part of its latest strategy. The social network now allows some users to use AI to change the background of their image.
The prospect of integrating artificial intelligence into their product offering is appealing to many companies, including Snapchat.
The social network has decided to incorporate a special tool to allow users to change the background of their profile photo by formulating various prompts.
Social networking expert Ahmed Ghanem unveiled this new option via screenshots posted on his Twitter account. But be aware that only subscribers to Snapchat+, the premium version of the social network, can access it.
The Snapchat+ subscription is available costs US$3.99 per month and offers access to exclusive features as well as some new features being tested by the company.
To generate a background using AI for a profile picture, users simply need to go to the "Snapchat+" settings and select the new "Premium Profile Backgrounds" tool.
Once a prompt has been made using one or more words, users can then choose their preferred option from a selection of three generated backgrounds.
Snapchat is doubling down on its use of artificial intelligence to develop new features. Previously the social network launched its "My AI" tool, a kind of virtual friend in the form of a chatbot based on ChatGPT.
For now, Snapchat is the only social network to start rolling out an integration of ChatGPT directly on its platform. A trend to watch and one that could inspire other social networks like Meta and TikTok.
