Coming Monday, McDonald's hopes that more people will be able break the habit of skipping the 'most important meal of the day' by giving away free Egg McMuffins to Malaysians who visit the restaurants.
The free breakfast offer will only be given to the first 1,000 customers coming in between 7am to 10am at the 222 McDonald's 'breakfast restaurants' nationwide.
Elsewhere, five thousand restaurants in 33 countries across Asia, Middle East and Africa will also be joining the fun, making it the "world's biggest breakfast giveaway" with potentially five million Egg McMuffins being given out.
"If you say you don't have the time for breakfast... why... let us help you! Come on in next Monday and feel how good it feels like to have a wholesome breakfast in the morning," said McDonald's Malaysia managing director Sarah Casanova today, launching the campaign at the Mutiara Damansara McDonald's drive- thru.
Casanova said customers are not required to do anything, such as cutting up coupons, and just need to turn up on Monday.
"We want to demonstrate to our busy customers in a truly tangible way that we are an affordable and convenient way to start the morning. No one else can do it like McDonald's," she added.
Last year in November, close to 200,000 Malaysians made long lines to queue up in the morning to receive an Egg McMuffin, which is made from "farm fresh egg and high quality golden cheese with a slice of chicken roll between a freshly toasted English muffin bun".
Meanwhile, Casanova said that the project last year was a success and that the percentage of breakfast customers have doubled in the past few years.
She also said that McDonald's targets to have 600 outlets in Malaysia by 2020. There are currently 245 restaurants nationwide.
