What makes a man desirable?

I find mature men desirable. Ive hardly had a crush on, or date, men my age.
Recent research released by leading dating site OKCupid (from the same parent company as Tinder and Match.com) revealed the age that men find women most desirable.
It turns out that the data supports the notion that men of any age are mostly interested in women in their early twenties.
The data collected also showed that women like men to be slightly older, in their 30s. Even women in their 40s are most attracted to men who are two to eight years younger than they are.
One can only argue so much with factual data. Upon reading the report, I took a step back to look at my own dating preference.
I find mature men desirable. I’ve hardly had a crush on, or date, men my age.
Some of you might jump to the conclusion and say “I get it. You want a financially stable man who can buy you gifts, holiday packages and branded goods!”
No, not even close.
It is one thing for a man to shower a woman with gifts to show affection, it is another for women to place too big an emphasis on tangible things in measuring the state of a relationship.
I was brought up to believe in the importance of pulling my own weight and to be financially independent — a belief my parents ingrained in me since I was young.
Typically when I do date, I enjoy company that can hold stimulating conversations — a well-read individual I can look up to and learn from. More often than not, I find it an alluring quality, especially if he does not come across as brash, as younger men do.
The following are some other qualities I find desirable in men.
A man who is chivalrous and well mannered
Don’t get me wrong, I am all for equal rights. Feminists may disagree with me on this but old school chivalry is a desirable trait when it comes to courting. But then again, how a man treats people around him holds equal importance and speaks volume about his character. We as women are not looking out for a knight in shining armour but a down-to-earth, caring companion.
A man who is confident and has a strong sense of identity
A strong sense of security makes a man desirable. He is mature and has the capacity to provide perspective and sound advice. Calm and understanding, he is less likely to succumb to jealousy or make unreasonable expectations.
A man who accepts our imperfections
A man is desirable when I know he is someone I can comfortably express my thoughts and ideas to, knowing I would not be judged. The kind of man who appreciates women based on substance, not style.
A man who is a good communicator
A desirable man pays attention, listens and remembers what is being said. And will casually bring it up in future conversations.
And last but not least, a man who can always find the lighter side of things.
