Water supply to 11 areas here will be interrupted for 10 hours tomorrow to facilitate urgent repair works on a leaking 150mm air valve on a 900mm pipeline at Jalan Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu here.
Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang (PBAPP) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa said in a statement today the affected areas are Marine Police Barracks, Marine Police Terminal, Kedai Ikan Bakar and seafood restaurant area, Bayan Mutiara, Persiaran Bayan Indah, Eastin Hotel, Queensbay Mall, Jalan Batu Uban 3, Desa Riang, E-Park Condominium and N-Park Condominium. The interruption will be from 8am to 6pm, he said.
"If left unattended for too long, this leak will cause large amounts of water loss and a potential disruption of water supply services.
"As such, the main objective is to prevent a major supply disruption that will affect the southern areas of Penang Island," he said.
Jaseni said PBAPP also advised all consumers affected by scheduled water supply interruption of less than 24 hours to store water in household containers.
"Please allow me to reiterate that PBAPP regrets all inconvenience caused by this Saturday''s scheduled water supply interruption," he said.
