Ten medical teams and another 10 health teams are ready to be deployed to the flood relief centres in Kemaman district.
Kemaman district health officer, Dr Mohd Anuar Abd said the medical teams would be giving preliminary treatment to the flood victims having fever or minor injuries.
"Those with more serious ailments will be sent to hospital straight away. At the moment, their health conditions are all under control," he said when met at the flood relief centre at Darul Iman Training Centre, here, Sunday.
The health teams, he said, would check on the conditions of the cooking areas, food handling and sleeping areas of the flood evacuees.
"The cleanliness of the toilets will also be given attention to avoid any disease outbreak. If the number of flood victims reaches 1,000 at a relief centre, we will open a temporary clinic there," he said.
The number of flood victims now is at 463 from 108 families who are housed at four relief centres. -- Bernama
