PUTRAJAYA:Ten ministries have achieved the Excellence (Five Stars) level, the highest award in the 2019 National Security Protection Special Award (AKKP) for displaying the best governance in security protection.
The ministries are the Prime Minister's Department (JPM); Federal Territories Ministry; Education Ministry; Health Ministry; Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry; Housing and Local Government Ministry; Finance Ministry; Women, Family and Community Development Ministry; Works Ministry and Home Affairs Ministry.
"It shows that the related ministries have carried out effective governance while reflecting the head of department and Security Department officers accountability, as well as the incorporation of security protection culture in every level of officers and personnel," according to a JPM statement, here, today.
A total of 63 federal and state government departments and agencies were listed as Excellence (Five Star) recipients in the award.
"Effort to strengthen the governance of security protection must be continued and made as the main agenda in every government department towards ensuring information secrecy and government assets are protected at all time," according to the statement.
JPM-SECURITY 2 (LAST) PUTRAJAYA
According to JPM, the AKKP programme, implemented biennially by the department's Chief Government Security Office (CGSO), was in line with the government's intention to provide a conducive and secured work environment at all time.
"The initiative is not only to highlight the practice of security protection among civil servants but also to encourage healthy competition among government departments in maintaining the existing recognition or for those who have yet to receive the Excellence (Five Star) recognition to double their efforts," it said.
According to the statement, CGSO had carried out a comprehensive Inspectorate Security Protection programme nationwide to ensure security control measures were implemented holistically.
The programme focused on four main security protection elements namely general; physical; documents and personal security, in order to award the best security protection governance among government departments.
