Ten people suffered burns caused by fireworks at a celebration to usher in the new year at the Pandamaran Sports Complex in Port Klang early today, according to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Service.
Its assistant director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul, said three of them suffered serious burns and were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.
The seven others were slightly injured and were given treatment on the spot by a medical team, he said in a statement.
Mohd Sani said a fire truck with seven fire-fighters responded to a distress call at 12.10am.
It is learnt that the fireworks exploded on the ground instead of in the air and injured those nearby. -- Bernama
