12 areas still with unhealthy air as at 8am

The haze situation in the country is improving with only 12 areas recording Air pollutant Index (API) readings at unhealthy level as at 8am today, from 20 areas at 10pm yesterday.
According to the Department of Environment's (DOE) portal, the areas with unhealthy air are Bandaraya Melaka, with the highest API reading at 132, followed by Samarahan (130), Bukit Rambai (124), Port Dickson (122) and Kuching (177).
The seven other areas with unhealthy air are Seremban (115), Banting (108), Putrajaya (107), Muar (105), Port Klang (103), Nilai (102) and Jerantut (102).
Meanwhile, 28 areas recorded moderate API readings with Cheras the highest at 100, followed by Tanjung Malim (99), Shah Alam (98) and Batu Muda (97).
Ten areas have good API readings and they are Kapit (50), Bakar Arang in Sungai Petani and Kampung Air Putih in Taiping (42), Tanah Merah (41), Seberang Jaya 2 in Perai (31), USM (26), Langkawi (23), Pasir Gudang (22), Kangar and Perai (17).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
