A total of 129 people were arrested for violating the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Of this number, 20 were remanded and 109 issued with compound notices for being involved in public activities which made physical distancing difficult, he said today.
“Police conducted 66 roadblocks and inspected 25,368 vehicles to check the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said in a statement on the RMCO, which entered its 67th day today.
On mandatory COVID-19 quarantine, he said 11,236 individuals who returned to the country between July 24 and yesterday have been placed at 60 hotels and five public training institutes (ILA).
“Of this number, 44 individuals were sent to hospital for treatment and 2,992 have been discharged.
“They returned from 31 countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Iran,” he said.
He said police also checked on 914 individuals who were undergoing mandatory quarantine at home yesterday and found all of them complying with the standard operating procedure (SOP).
On food supply, Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry conducted daily monitoring of 12 types of food at 726 business premises comprising 538 retailers, 158 wholesalers and 30 manufacturers.
“The ministry's enforcement officers also conducted 1,163 special inspections on RMCO SOP compliance and found all the premises abiding by the guidelines,” he said.
On the public sanitisation exercise, he said 12 operations were conducted in nine zones in four states yesterday -- Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang and Melaka.
The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) inspected 74 construction sites throughout the country and only one was found to have violated the SOP and was given a warning, he said.
