12-year-old boy drowns while bathing in river

A 12-year-old boy drowned while bathing with his friends in Sungai Kampung Melayu, Pandan, here, yesterday.
Tebrau Fire Station chief Shazarul Afidz Mohd Khairuddin said they received a report on the incident at 7.02pm and arrived at the scene 15 minutes later.
"I and seven personnel arrived at Kampung Melayu Pandan and found the victim had been rescued by villagers and was unconscious and weak.
"The victim, Mohamad Lukman Hakim Shahril, was bathing in the river with his friends when the incident occurred," Shazarul said when contacted, here today.
He was given respiratory aid before sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) for follow-up treatment.
However, Mohamad Lukman died upon arrival at the hospital. - BERNAMA
