13 pupils nabbed over assault on religious school pupil

The police have detained 13 form four and five pupils to facilitate investigations into an assault on a form one pupil at a religous school in Pokok Tai, Pendang last Saturday.
Pendang police chief, DSP Abdul Aziz Ahmad said the suspects were picked up at 11.15am Monday.
He said two other form five pupils linked to the assault had returned to their homes in Sungai Petani after they were suspended Sunday, adding that the police would pick them up soon.
Meanwhile, the school's principal, who wanted to be known only as Ustaz Zainol Abidin said he had sent a report on the incident to the state education department director for further action.
Last Saturday, Muhammad Ammar Aqil Zainudin, 13, from Taman Ria Mesra, Gurun claimed he was beaten by 30 pupils between midnight and 1.30am.
