A total of 135 complaints of domestic violence were received through ‘Talian Kasih’ under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) during the period of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Thus, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the government hoped the community would play their role as neighbours by channeling complaints immediately if they had information of such incidences.
"Talian Kasih 15999 under the KPWKM received 135 calls regarding incidents involving domestic violence throughout the MCO.
"We are appealing to the people to get involved in helping ... maybe the victims of domestic violence do not dare to complain and so on ... or maybe their phones are confiscated, so they have no room to complain even on Talian Kasih.
"So, I appeal to the public, especially neighbours, if they hear anything suspicious next door, to make complaints through Talian Kasih 15999 or WhatsApp to the police at 019-2615999," he told a daily press conference here Thursday.
Commenting further on this, Ismail Sabri said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) was always investigating and taking appropriate action.
"So, I pray that all of our households are safe and at peace even after being together for a month. If there is such (domestic violence) behaviour, please report it," he said.
