A total of 137 construction sites nationwide were ordered closed after the sites were found to be breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.
Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof, in a statement, said that all the project sites ordered to close were among 341 areas identified to be risky in terms of breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
He said all the mosquito breeding areas were detected by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and the Health Department.
"One hundred compound summonses were issued and 137 premises ordered closed for cleaning purposes, while 127 premises were ordered to clean up without being ordered closed by the Health Department and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health," he said.
